New Secret Area Update

After a brief delay, the greatest update to The Frydarian Tale yet is complete: The Trials of the Primordians.

As Fygoon finds himself lost in his thoughts, he soon found himself enveloped in darkness, the only source of light being a rapidly shrinking white dot above him. Fygoon looked down and realized why the light was fading: he was on a small, pentagonal elevator and it was rapidly descending. Soon enough, light began to shine from below as Fygoon entered a mysterious chamber.

Like the elevator, this chamber was shaped like a pentagon, with five doors on each side. While the doors were made of the same,  metallic material, each of the five walls, though made of the same bricks, each had a different color: teal, orange, navy, gold, and magenta.

Suddenly, Fygoon was surrounded by five ethereal, hooded figures. The young Dragon grabbed for his sword, intending to draw it on these five specters, only for it to disappear into thin air. Thinking on his toes, Fygoon raised his fists and threw a punch at one of the figures; an unknown force held him in place, surprising, but ultimately not harming, the Dragon.

“Do not fear us,” whispered the hooded figure Fygoon intended to punch. “We have no reason to harm you.”

Fygoon cocked his head in confusion.

The ethereal figure realized why Fygoon was confused. “You are probably wondering who we are: we are the Primordians, the Children of the Firestorm.”

Fygoon’s eyes widened as the other four Primordians grouped behind the leader; he had heard of the Primordians but believed them to just be myth. How else could seemingly ordinary beings from millennia before cheat death while modern technology can only prolong the inevitable? Despite this, here Fygoon was, surrounded by the only beings who attained true immortality.

“We have been watching you,” the lead Primordian continued, “and we believe you have what it takes to become one of us. However, you must earn this honor. Complete the five trials that stand behind each door and we will grant you a gift.”

Fygoon contemplated this offer; he had been given terrible offers before that he would regret; nevertheless, the promise of a gift was tempting.

“I accept,” Fygoon replied.

The Primordians smiled and disappeared in a flash of light. Fygoon looked around to see where the five had disappeared before finding the door on the teal wall opened, revealing a long corridor. With nowhere else to go, Fygoon entered the door, beginning the Trials of the Primordians.

New things added with The Trials of the Primordians:

  • The Trials of the Primordians have been added; complete five challenging tasks to earn a gift from the only beings who cheated death
  • Achievements have been added; now players can view their progress in a more appealing way
  • The main menu now features an “Extras” menu to view achievements, replay the tutorial, view the Zmeian Compendium (under construction), and, if certain conditions are met, the Trials of the Primordians

Things updated with this new build:

  • Fygoon now splats on the ground properly when falling from a great height
  • An animation error in the tutorial has been fixed
  • Alois Ratatosky now has a catapult instead of a single block of wood on his wrist

What remains before the game is complete:

  • Voice acting from my two friends
  • Animations once the voice acting is complete
  • A few more bug fixes
  • A render for this update
