New Area Update 2
After a while of rumors and hearsay, the newest area has finally been completed: Snowfall Plains.
As Joseph Fygoon and his friend Alois Ratatosky escape from the clutches of the Trollglodytes, they find themselves at the snowy bottom of the Tri-Peak Mountains. While Ratatosky can brave the frigid conditions on account of his fur, Fygoon must use his reserve of Fire Peppers to keep himself from becoming lethargic from the cold. While the two survey the environment, they find that the Golems of the Tri-Peak Mountains had sabotaged the gondola to the mountains by seizing the activation keys to the gondola-controlling crystal; without the five keys, the crystal is all but useless. Adamant to reactivate the gondola, Fygoon resolves that he must hunt down the Golems and take the keys from them, but the zealous Golems will fight to the death to ensure their Basileus does not have the keys.
New things added with Snowfall Plains:
- Fygoon must act fast in the plains or else he will grow lethargic from the cold with a new heat-draining system
- Campfires scattered throughout the plains can be ignited to restore some heat (that is, if you still have some Fire Peppers left to set them alight)
- Many new foes have been added into this area, from the nomadic and hostile Saberwolves to the enigmatic Golems; ferocious Arctic Spawns and even Snow Drillzors
- Balthazar Lux, after assassinating an enemy of the Frydarian state as instructed by the Order of the Claw, joins his best friends Fygoon and Ratatosky on their quest to claim the Crystal Golem
- Lux can become invisible with a magical Lynxstone and has two attacks: a precise dagger kill and a less-precise scimitar swing
- A new side-quest has been added: Destroying the Saberwolf Shades with Elsara the Weaver
- The Vulpines of Snowfall Plains are at risk of dying out by the hands of the diabolical Saberwolves; join the lone Vulpine warrior and help her destroy the Shades in exchange for a reward
- Elsara boasts a more complex behavior system than most friendly characters, as she joins you on the quest she gives you
- Once you complete your task, she will reward you with the new Vixen Coat, nullifying the heat-draining winds, providing extra protection against enemy attack, and generally making Fygoon look pretty snazzy
In addition, general fixes and updates have been added as well:
- The music on the main menu now changes based on the player's save data
- The Hundwerks section of the Iron Ghetto has been brightened a bit; diurnal creatures rejoice
- A nasty bug found by ProjectZero (thanks, dude) where Fygoon will no longer react to player input has been fixed (so much for working while sleep deprived)
- Fygoon is now motivated to not return to the Iron Ghetto after the Canor fight by way of the magical Invisible Barrier of Steadfastness
- The manual has been updated to add more colorful pictures
Things left to do:
- Make the Iron Ghetto, specifically the Hundwerks, a little less sad and empty (Bulldogs are people too, you know)
- Add in Golem Rock, the Battle of Stargazer Hill, and the Final Confrontation
- Do some voice acting and cutscene animation
- General bug fixes and polish
